As Mysuru begins its preparations for Navaratri festival that begins from Sept.29, Mysureans will have another occasion to celebrate much prior to that with the launch of the 1st edition of Celebrate Life! Mysuru Half Marathon, 10K & 6K Run/ Walk event on Sept.8. The event will be flagged off at the Mysore Palace North Gate, near Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple.
The event is being organised by Raadiant Sports, which has a vast experience of organising running and other sporting events, with an objective of promoting a healthier lifestyle and Mysuru as a sporting destination. The run, which is going to be an annual event, aims to encourage people to take running and walking as a daily activity.
Balasubramaniam, Race Director, said: “Running is about consistency. It’s a battle between the body and mind. Challenge yourself to have a good health and do not compare yourselves with others.”
Celebrate Life! Mysuru will feature Half Marathon (21.097 kms) and 10K Run in the Competitive and Timed Categories where people who have adopted running as a fitness regime and train regularly, will participate to test themselves, improve their run timings and have a good run passing through some of the best landmarks and roads of Mysuru.
The winners of Half Marathon & 10K categories will be awarded trophies under the following age groups: 18-25 years , 26-35 years, 36-45 years, 46-60 years, 61 years and above for both men and women participants.
All the finishers will receive customised finisher medals and timing certificate which will help them to gain entry to some of the bigger marathon events in the country as the event is being organised under the auspices of Karnataka Athletic Association (KAA). Amateur runners are expected to participate from Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi and other cities to enjoy the run in Namma Mysuru.
To encourage people, who are not training to be regular runners but have the interest to test their fitness and have interest to take up healthy lifestyle, the 6K Run/Walk is planned.
In order to encourage children to adopt a healthy lifestyle from a young age, the 6K Run/Walk is open to all those aged above 10 years and above. It is a Non-Competitive and Non-Timed category. Families across age groups without experience of running can walk the distance and participate as a group to have a memorable experience on a Sunday early morning.
All the participants will receive Event T-shirts, Bibs (Timed for Half Marathon & 10K) (non-timed for 6K) and Participant Information Document as part of the Participant Kit.
The participant kit will be distributed at Hotel Rio Meridian, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Bamboo Bazaar on Sept.6 (1 pm to 7 pm) and Sept.7 (11 am to 7 pm).
All registered participants can show their registration confirmation mail or receipt to collect the kits. Limited on-the-spot registrations will also be available at the venue. Post the Run / Walk, all participants will receive Finisher Medals. Timing Certificate (Half Marathon & 10K) can be downloaded by logging on to www.raadiantsports.com
Participation certificate for 6K Run / Walk category and breakfast for all participants will also be provided. There will be Zumba Warm-up prior to the run and cool down session post the run. Music at the venue will add to the entertainment factor for participants to relax and unwind.
On the occasion, team from Apollo Hospitals will educate participants about the benefits associated with organ donation for the welfare of the society.
