Centenarian PDG Col. B.M. Chengappa passes away

Madikeri: Rtn. PDG Col. Biddanda Mandappa Chengappa (101), a native of Virajpet here, passed away at Ahmedabad last night.

He leaves behind three sons and a host of relatives and friends.

He had served as the Madikeri Rotary District Governor during 1983-84. He had joined Indian Army at the age of 24 (1941) and had served the nation.

Chengappa, who had settled in Kodagu after retirement, was presently at his son’s residence in Ahmedabad.

It may be recalled that Rotary Club of Mysore West had organised a programme at a private hotel in Mysuru to celebrate the 100th birthday of Rtn. Col.  Chengappa last year.
