Centenary of Belagavi Congress Session: Mahatma Gandhi’s statue unveiled

To mark the centenary celebrations of the historic 1924 Congress Session chaired by Mahatma Gandhi at Belagavi, a grand statue of the Mahatma was unveiled in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha premises in Belagavi this morning. The 25-foot-tall statue, weighing 20 tons, has been installed near the North Gate of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge (fourth from left), who unveiled the statue, is seen with (from left) Ministers Satish Jarkiholi & H.K. Patil; MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra; Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti; Chief Minister Siddaramaiah; Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader; Dy.CM D.K. Shivakumar; MP K.C. Venugopal and Karnataka State Congress in-Charge Randeep Singh Surjewala. On the occasion, ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ rally was held.
