Mysore/Mysuru: Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje said that the Centre is seriously working on plans for appropriate management of extreme weather conditions due to the effects of climate change.
Speaking to press persons after visiting Chamundi Hill Temple by climbing steps barefoot on July 14, Shobha said at present the country is witnessing extreme weather conditions during Monsoon.
While the Northern part of the country is reeling under heavy rains and cloudburst, the Southern part of the country is short of rainfall. Karnataka has recorded 70 percent scanty rainfall this year and this situation should be tackled with the involvement and co-operation of everyone, she said adding that political leaders should set aside their differences and strive for saving the life and livelihood of the people under extreme conditions of weather.
Listing out the achievements of Prime Minister Modi in the last 9 years, Shobha said she wished that Modi should continue as the PM for the third time after next year’s Lok Sabha polls.
Referring to the killing of Hindu activist Venugopal at T. Narasipur and the brutal murder of Jain Seer Kamakumar Nandi Maharaj in Belagavi district, the Union Minister said that such killings are happening after the Congress came to power in the State.
The BJP would stand by the family of Venugopal, she said while accusing the Siddharamaiah Government of indulging in the politics of appeasement.
District BJP President Mangala Somashekar, party leaders R.K. Sharath, Satish, Cable Mahesh and others were present.
