House burglar arrested: Gold ornaments worth Rs. 10 lakh recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: Vijayanagar Police have arrested a house burglar recently and have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 10 lakh from him.

The arrested burglar is 35-year-old Manjunath alias Koli Fayaz alias Abhi of Ramachandrapura in Bengaluru, who was residing at a rented house in Lalithadripura here. Manjunath has over 30 cases registered against him at various Police Stations in Bengaluru.

Details: Following increase in house burglary cases in Vijayanagar Police limits since two months, where burglars targeted locked houses and decamped with gold, City Police Commissioner B. Ramesh, who brought this to the notice of DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi following which a special Police team led by Vijayanagar Sub-Division ACP G.S. Gajendra Prasad and Inspector B.S. Ravishankar was formed and necessary instructions were given to them.

The special team, which took up the investigation, collected clues and information pertaining to the burglaries. Based on the information and clues, the special Police team, which left Mysuru on July 11 to Bengaluru, arrested Manjunath from an under-construction house near Kammanahalli on Bannerghatta Main Road.

During interrogation, the Police came to know that Manjunath has over cases registered against him at various Police Stations in Bengaluru and had come out of jail four months ago.

Manjunath later came to Mysuru, took a house on rent at Lalithadripura to continue committing crimes. The Cops also came to know that he had burgled three locked houses in Vijayanagar Police limits and had made away with 190 grams gold ornaments and Rs. 20,000 cash.

After stealing gold ornaments, accused Manjunath had sold four bangles at a gold shop in Kolar and had kept the remaining gold in his rented house. Based on the information provided by Manjunath, the Police have recovered all the gold ornaments, according to Police.

Inspector B.S. Ravishankar, Sub-Inspectors K. Vishwanath and Ashwini Ananthapura and staff Shankar, Lokesh, Pradeep Kumar, Tilak Kumar, Annappa Nadish, Manjunath, Sanjay and CDR Division’s Kumar took part in the nabbing and recovery operation.
