Poetess and littérateur Champa Shivanna (71), wife of former Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra Editor late M.R. Shivanna (MRS) passed away this morning following illness at her native place Shivamogga.

A recipient of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Endowment Award, she leaves behind her daughter Shivaranjini, a poetess, son-in-law Pralhad Rao, grandson Pratham and a host of relatives and friends.

The body is expected to reach Mysuru at 6 pm today and will be kept at her residence No. 914, Shivakrupa, 5th Main Road, Shivarathreeshwaranagar in Bannimantap, till 1 pm tomorrow.

Last rites will be held at Veerashaiva Burial Grounds in Vidyaranyapuram, according to family sources.
