Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava’s Jyeshtha edition

Mysore/Mysuru: Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava is the monthly cultural event series to promote Indian arts and culture under the aegis of Champaka Educational & Cultural Trust, Mysuru.

The ‘Jyeshtha’ edition of this series was held on July 6 at Champaka Academy premises in Ramakrishnanagar, with Bharatanatyam performances from accomplished artistes from Mysuru and Bengaluru.

The evening started with a solo Bharatanatyam performance from Shreya Kashyap, disciple of Vidushi Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan, Founder of Champaka Academy. Her scintillating performance started with Melaprapti and was followed by Sri Rama Stotram, Krishna Koutvam, Shiva Kriti and concluded with Thillana.

Shreya Kashyap depicted Kalinga Mardana in a very attractive way which was appreciated by the audience.

Disciples of Vidushi Sunitha Sukumaran, Founder and Director of Sri Krishna Kalaalaya, Bengaluru, presented a Bharatanatyam feature starting with Ganesha Stuti Shri Vignarajam Bhaje followed by Pushpanjali and other compositions including Eshane Kailasa Nathane.

The programme concluded with the Bharatanatyam feature by the disciples of Vidwan R. Kannan, Director of Nandini Nirthyalaya, one of the oldest and prestigious dance institutions in Mysuru.

The team presented various compositions including Pushpanjali, Jatiswara, Sri Krishna Varna and Tillana. The Varna portrayed the keen learning and Sadhana of his students including Pavan and Gunashankar showing energy and emotive skills.

Professor M.S.K. Narahari Babu, Founder-Principal of Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College and Secretary of Sadvidya Educational Institutions, Mysuru, was the chief guest. 

He spoke about the importance of cultural events in promoting the art forms which uphold the culture values of our region and the responsibility of elders in encouraging the young generation to take part in such events.

All performers were given a certificate of appreciation by the chief guest.

Trustees Nagarajan Srinivasan and K.A. Deepamani were present at the event.
