Chamundeshwari areas to come under Greater Mysuru

December 15, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: Several localities in the Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency will soon be brought under the Greater Mysuru limits, a move expected to resolve long-pending civic issues, said Chamundeshwari MLA and former Minister G.T. Devegowda (GTD).

He was speaking at the fourth annual day and grievance-redressal meeting of Ravindranath Tagore Nagar (R.T. Nagar) Residents’ Welfare and Cultural Association, held near the Ring Road in Mysuru on Sunday.

Devegowda assured residents that all basic infrastructure issues in R.T. Nagar would be addressed and the area developed into a well-planned neighbourhood.

He announced that the drinking-water problem in R.T. Nagar and across the Chamundeshwari Constituency would be fully resolved within six months.

“Every household will receive Cauvery water and there will be no drinking-water shortage for the next 50 years,” he said.

Road and underground drainage works would be taken up in phases, while waste collection would be carried out four days a week. Adequate street lighting would be provided within the next three months, he said.

“I will personally visit the locality regularly to hear grievances and a progress-review meeting will be held next month,” he added.

Plan for Police sub-station

Responding to complaints about thefts and rowdy activities in R.T. Nagar, Devegowda said a Police sub-station was essential as residents could not depend solely on the Jayapura Police Station.

GTD assured that discussions would be held with Police officials to establish a sub-station in the vicinity.

The meeting was attended by R.T. Nagar Residents’ Welfare and Cultural Association President Rajesh, Vice-President Shripad Rao, Treasurer Mallikarjuna, Secretary Srinivasamurthy, Joint Secretary Mahesh and members Appanna and Ramaswamy, among others.

Many people still do not fully understand whom they should vote for. I campaigned day and night when Prathap Simha and Yaduveer contested elections. However, during my own Assembly election, the support was opposite. I have known the Chamundeshwari Constituency for 50 years and understand its needs clearly. With everyone’s co-operation, I am working to address them. — G.T. Devegowda, MLA, Chamundeshwari, Assembly Constituency
