Mysuru: Mysureans who have admired the illumination of majestic Mysore Palace during important days and the annual Dasara, will now have a chance to see the illuminated Chamundi Temple.

The District Administration has decided to illuminate the Rajagopuram of the iconic Chamundi Temple atop the Chamundi Hill on all public holidays and important religious days.

In a communication to the media, Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep stated that the permanent lighting to the Rajagopuram has been undertaken with help of donors.

The 12th Century temple has originally been built by the Hoysalas and its Rajagopuram is 40-metre high and has been built using Dravidian style. The Rajagopuram has been rebuilt and renovated several times over the centuries by successive Maharajas of Mysore.
