Sir,
Property tax collection at the Hootagalli City Municipal Council (HCMC) is drawing criticism for poor arrangements and inefficient management.
Despite being a key revenue-generating local body, basic facilities for taxpayers remain inadequate. The token system is ineffective, leading to confusion and overcrowding at the office.
There is no proper queue management, seating is insufficient and overall public handling leaves much to be desired. Taxpayers often wait for long hours, with delays attributed to staff being unavailable due to field duties. The situation has caused inconvenience to many, particularly senior citizens and working individuals.
Residents say it is unfair that citizens contributing to the Council’s revenue are subjected to such hardship. They have urged the authorities to streamline the process, improve infrastructure and ensure adequate staff presence to manage the rush efficiently.
