Chaotic ‘T’ junction on busy Gokulam and Hunsur Roads

January 9, 2020

Sir,

Umpteen number of letters from the concerned citizens have appeared in this column about the hardship faced by the motorists at the ‘T’ junction of Gokulam Road and Hunsur Road, with various suggestions to ease the traffic.

For a short while unscientifically designed road humps were acting as speed and “back” breakers at the junction. After removing the road humps constructed at wrong places, Police fixed metal barricades to monitor the chaos at this junction.

But unfortunately these barricades do not yield the desired results for effective traffic control.

On some days, we find a Traffic Constable at this junction sitting on his bike or standing at some obscure corner, unmindful of the chaos the motorists face.

The best way to make this chaotic junction motorist-friendly is to opt for traffic signal lights. With the huge penalty collected by the Traffic Police at their disposal, finance should not be a constraint to erect signal lights at this junction. Till such time sincerely working Traffic Constables should be deputed at this junction to monitor traffic.

Crossing this junction is becoming more and more difficult, especially during peak hours and after the movie time at DRC.
