Check traffic violation by three-wheelers also

November 25, 2017

Sir,

We have been reading regular news on fine collection by Traffic Police for violation of traffic rules. If we closely read the sector of vehicles violating rules, every time it is two-wheelers who are being fined for not wearing the helmet! Any Mysurean will definitely agree that the collection of fine is more on two-wheelers and most of the time for only on helmet rule. The department is actually not interested to look beyond this.

Auto drivers are also frequently violating and freezing general public more so during Dasara time. If we just stand and watch for 10 minutes in any traffic place and count how many auto drivers are not wearing the khaki dress, it is almost 70 to 80 % ! Barring the areas near bus stand and railway station, they are merrily wearing civil dresses, which is not violation as per Traffic Police!

Apart from this, most of the metres are tampered and even near pre-paid centres, they bargain for higher rate by misguiding tourists, particularly those who are conversing in Hindi or English (despite the fact that there is a mike announcing public to make use of pre-paid autos).

This clearly shows that the department is only targeting two- wheelers and afraid of booking these auto drivers for the reason best known to them !
