Chief Justice Hombegowda Memorial Gold Cup Football Tourney: Concludes Sapient College bags winner’s trophy

The football team of Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysuru, which clinched the title in the Chief Justice Hombegowda Memorial Gold Cup University of Mysore Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament-2018, posing with the winner's trophy.

The Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysuru, won the coveted title in the Chief Justice Hombegowda Memorial Gold Cup Inter-Collegiate Football Tourney 2018, conducted by the Department of Physical Education (DPE), University of Mysore (UoM), that concluded at the University Football Grounds here yesterday.

Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysuru and Mysore Institute of Commerce and Arts (MICA), Mysuru, tied with five points each in the semi-final league, but Sapient College of Commerce and Management’s better goal average than MICA enabled them to clinch the title.

MICA, Mysuru secured the runners-up spot. PES, Mandya with four points secured third place and St. Joseph’s FGC, Hassan with one point finished fourth.

Dwijesh Sridhar won the ‘Fair Play Player of The Tournament Award’ while St. Joseph’s FGC, Hassan was given the ‘Fair Play Team Trophy.’

The prizes were given away to the winners by M.P. Nabhiraj, retd. UoM Swimming Coach. Dr. C. Krishna, President, Physical Education Teachers Academy Trust, Manjunath, Hon. Secretary, MDFA & Dr. P. Krishnaiah, in-Charge Director, DPE, UoM, were present on the occasion.

Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysuru (5 points), 2. MICA, Mysuru (5 points), 3. PES, Mandya (4 points), 4. St. Joseph’s FGC, Mysuru (1 point).
