September 21, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: The Zonal Anthropological Museum, part of the Anthropological Survey of India – Southern Regional Centre (AnSI – SRC), has provided a captivating exploration of various facets of human existence.

This includes ancient civilisations, prehistoric life, cultural diversity, and technological advancements, all showcased through their projects. Each exhibit created by the students reflects their deep interest in the field of Anthropology and their dedication to researching and presenting these topics through creative interpretations. The Anthropological Survey of India – SRC aims to establish a platform for school children to delve into and present their understanding of different aspects of the human journey.

This initiative not only stimulates creative thinking among the students but also fosters a sense of engagement among young visitors to the museum.

The museum’s displays cover a wide range of topics, including human evolution, the Stone Age, Chandrayaan-3, the Mars Orbiter Mission, natural disasters and the greenhouse effect. These exhibits collectively narrate the fascinating story of humanity’s journey through time and space.

During these activities, Prof. B.V. Sharma, Director of the Anthropological Survey of India in Kolkata, and the research personnel, actively interacted with the students, providing valuable encouragement and guidance.

The museum has welcomed approximately 341 students, with 31 groups presenting their projects in the form of exhibits. According to Banita Behera, the Officer-in-Charge of the Zonal Anthropological Museum, this initiative has been a resounding success in promoting education and engagement among children visiting the museum.
