‘Swaralaya Samskritika Sambhrama-2026’

Mysuru: Swaralaya Sangeetha Samsthe, Ramakrishnanagar, in collaboration with Directorate of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru, had organised ‘Swaralaya Samskritika Sambhrama-2026’ programme recently in the auditorium of Mahajana Education Society’s Alumni Association in Jayalakshmipuram, Mysuru.

Music teacher Vidu. Padma Ananth inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Addressing the gathering, she said that the values we instil in our children from a young age reflect in their own  children when they grow up.

She wished that more students would join this institution, undergo training and build a good future for themselves.

Vidu. Padma noted that starting any institution is easy, but sustaining and growing it is a challenging and competitive task. She expressed pride and happiness that Vidu. Dr. Suma Harinath, Founder-President of Swaralaya Sangeetha Samsthe, has been serving as a music teacher for many years.

Violin teacher Vidwan Dinesh, who was the chief guest, said that music is a wonderful art form. He said that learning Karnatak classical music absolutely requires the guru-shishya (teacher-student) connection and that success in the field of music can be achieved only if we cultivate the feeling that “this is our  institution, this is our school.”

He praised Vidu. Suma for tirelessly working to train women and children in singing devotional songs, stotras, devotional names of God (devaranama), Vishnu Parayana and Lalitha Sahasranama.

Presiding over the function, Vidu. Dr. Suma Harinath paid a musical tribute to the recently departed legendary singer S. Janaki by rendering the song “Moodala Maneya” from the film “Belli Moda.”

Following the main stage programme, a cultural event was held in which Shilpashree Jayaram sang Dasara Padagalu (devotional songs of Haridasas), delighting the audience. She was accompanied on mridanga by Vidwan V. Shyam and on violin by Vidwan C. Chetan. Roopa Narasimhan and team presented a programme  titled “Haaduva Janapadava” (singing folk songs). This was followed by a duet Bharatanatyam by Vidu. Vaishnavi Narasimhan and Vidu. Seema Varadaraj.

The Swaralaya team presented a group song titled “Alaya Swaralaya.”

Raghavi rendered the invocation while Secretary H.S. Shrikanthamani welcomed and compered the  event.
