Chilkunda Sisters to sing at Bhagini Raaga Sourabha

March 20, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: BSS Vidyodaya and RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, in association with Samskara Bharathi, will present Bhagini Raaga Sourabha — a resplendent evening of Karnatak music featuring the famous Chilkunda Sisters — Vidu. Lakshmi Nagaraj and Vidu. Indu Nagarajon — tomorrow (Mar. 21) from 6 pm onwards, at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram.

Hailing from Chilkunda in Mysuru district and now based in Bengaluru, the sisters come from a distinguished musical heritage. Their initial training under their grandmother, Vidushi C.S. Satyalakshmi, followed by guidance from their father, “Karnataka Kalashri” Vid. C. A. Nagaraj, has firmly rooted them in the Mysore bani of Karnatak music.

While their foundation remains classical, the duo is widely admired for their versatility across Sugama Sangeetha, devotional, film and fusion music — bringing a refreshing accessibility to their performances. Lakshmi and Indu have each carved a distinct identity in the music world while complementing each other as a duo. Lakshmi Nagaraj, a versatile vocalist, holds an A-Top Grade in Sugama Sangeetha and an A Grade in Karnatak Vocal Music from Prasar Bharati.

Indu Nagaraj, an acclaimed playback singer, has rendered over 500 songs across films and independent music and rose to prominence with the chartbuster songs while earning a Filmfare Award along with several other recognitions.

As Bhagini Raaga Sourabha celebrates the spirit of sisterhood through music, Chilkunda Sisters embody this essence with elegance — two voices, seamlessly woven into one musical experience. For this concert, the sisters will be accompanied by Vidu. Aditi Krishnaprakash on violin, Vid. B.S. Prashanth on mridanga and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on ghata.
