Chunchanakatte Falls: Beautiful but Dangerous

June 24, 2018

The Chunchanakatte Falls near K.R. Nagar in Mysuru district is another place where one can see nature’s bounty.

However, this place is dangerous as recently, a senior scientist from CFTRI was washed away in front of his family members. Following the accident, the Mysuru District Administration has banned tourist entry to this place. The district administration is planning to fence the entire area to prevent tourists from venturing into turbulent waters.

Water flows with great force here as a private company produces electricity 300 metres away from the Chunchanakatte Falls. Though sirens are sounded before the water is released, some tourists lose lives as they step into water despite warning.
