Mysuru: The Wayanad District Administration in Kerala, Kodagu District Administration and Mysuru District Administration have sought the support of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), Mysuru, for the flood- affected people in Kodagu and Wayanad areas. Kodagu Administration has requested for volunteers who have experience in handling emergency situations in the Industries.
In a press release, CII Mysuru Deputy Director T.U. Augustine said, “Since Industries are having such trained employees, the District Administrations have sought CII support.
There are already 15 people starting today to Kodagu and another 15-20 people will be travelling tomorrow to Kodagu, awaiting District Administration’s directions for the deployment. Automotive Axles, N. Ranga Rao & Sons and JK Tyres have already allocated people to support District Administrations. More companies have agreed to send more volunteers.”
CII is also coordinating and appealing to the Industries to support Wayanad, where more than 25,000 people are staying in various Relief Centres. The Wayanad District Administration has requested for materials such as rice, atta, groceries, packed foods, clothes (lungies and nighties), bedsheets, sanitary items like cleaners, pads, napkins etc., drinking water, utensils, footwear and other necessary materials, he said.
Many Industries have come forward offering materials which will be collated at CII Office in Jayalakshmipuram and will be transported to Wayanad and other severely affected areas in Kerala as well as in Kodagu, he said.
Dr. N. Muthukumar, Chairman, CII Karnataka and Arjun Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysuru are leading the CII efforts from the front. Income Tax Office in Mysuru is also supporting this cause by arranging transportation etc., he said.
