Cinerama’18 Short Film Fest concludes at Amrita

Mysuru: Cinerama’18,  the National-level Short Film Festival at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, organised by the Department of Visual Communication, was inaugurated by Bhagirathi Bai Kadam, Director, Rangayana, on Apr. 11.

In her inaugural address, she highlighted the significance of acting and performance in theatre which is a stepping stone for feature films.

She also mentioned that every actor should imbibe Navarasa meaning nine emotions, which play an essential role for the success of a cinema.

A workshop on ‘Acting and Performance: From Script to Screen’ conducted by Balaji, HoD, SRM Shivaji Ganeshan Institute of Film and Television, followed the inaugural session.

Shanvi Srivastava, multi-lingual actress and model (of the Tarak, Masterpiece and Chandralekha fame), who was the chief guest at the valedictory function, gave away the awards to the winners of Short Film Festival.

Speaking on the occasion, she stressed on the challenges involved in acting and learning and advised the youth to pay  attention to finer details of every day happenings in our day-to-day life.

The Jury members of Cinerama ’18 were felicitated on the occasion. Raju Vaividhya spoke on behalf of the jury members.

Br. Sunil Dharmapal, Director; Br. Venugopal, Correspondent; Prof. C. Vidya Pai, Principal and Ramya K. Prasad, Chairperson, Department of Visual Communication were present at the event.

Prize winners

Top three Short Films: 1st place – Abaya (Director – Prem Chandar), Chennai; 2nd place – Vitamin M (Director – Goutham), Bengaluru; 3rd place –  Ajinapathran (Director – Gautham Menon), Thrissur.

Best Titles (Special Category Awards): Best Editor – Raja Shiva  for the film Vitamin M; Best Director – Prem Chandar for Abaya; Best Cinematographer- Prakash for Abaya; Best Performer – Mohit Jangara for the film Nirnay

Photography: 1st prize – Sharad Patil, Dattarao Kadam College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Maharashtra; 2nd prize – Sylesh, Jain University, Bengaluru; 3rd prize –  T. Anil Kumar, Jain University, Bengaluru.
