Thanya secures Individual Championship and creates  New Meet Record in Swimming Championship

Mysuru: Thanya from Mysuru secured Individual Championship and created New Meet Record by breaking the 2013 record for the first time in Mysuru history and won 3 Gold and 1 Silver Medal in 33rd Junior & Sub-Junior South Zone Aquatic Championship 2022.

The Championship was organised by Kerala Aquatic Association at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Aquatic Complex, Pirappancode, Thiruvananthapuram,  from Dec. 27 to 29, 2022.

She participated in the following four events:

1. 400m Individual Medley: Gold – Created New Meet Record (05:26:16) by breaking 2013 record (05:33:36).

2. 200m Breaststroke: Silver – Created Bettering Record (02:50:43) by breaking 2017 record (02:50:97).

3. 50m Breaststroke: Gold (00:37.04 )

4. 100m Breaststroke: Gold (01:20.08)

Thanya is trained under Pavan Kumar of Global Sports Association, J.P. Nagar Swimming Pool, Mysuru, from last 6 years.

An 8th std. student of Sri Sharada Public School, Mysuru, Thanya is the daughter of S.P. Shadakshari and N. Shwetha.

Earlier, the swimmers of J.P. Nagar, Mysuru, had bagged 13 medals in the Junior and Sub-Junior category in the XXI State Short Course Swimming Championship 2022-23, organised by Karnataka Swimming Association at PET Aquatic Centre, Mandya, from Dec. 5 to Dec. 9, 2022.

S. Thanya – 6 medals (2 Gold in 50m Breaststroke and 200m Breaststroke; 2 Silver – 100m Breaststroke and 400m Individual Medley; 2 Bronze – 200m Individual Medley and Relay 4x50m). She broke the State record of 2015 in 400m                                    Individual Medley (IM).

Jeevamsh – 6 medals (1 Gold – 100m Butterfly; 2 Silver – Relay 4x50m IM and Relay 4x50m Freestyle; 3 Bronze – 50m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley and 200m Free Style).

H.N. Nehasiri – 1 medal (1 Gold – Relay 4x50m Freestyle).
