City jeweller killed in road accident

In a tragic incident, a city jeweller was killed when the motorcycle he was riding rammed into the road median near Nanjangud town this morning.

Shankar Choudhury (30), owner of Mahalakshmi Jewellers in Vidyaranyapuram, is the deceased. A resident of Basaveshwara Road in city, he is survived by his wife and two kids.

Shankar was travelling on his Hero Honda Splendor to attend the marriage of a customer at Nanjangud, when he reportedly lost control over his bike and rammed into the median near Kapila bridge on the outskirts of the town at about 7.45 am.

The seriously injured Shankar was rushed to a hospital in Mysuru, where he died minutes later, it is learnt. His body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary.  

Nanjangud Police have registered a case. Shankar’s  body will be taken to his native village in Rajasthan later in the day, according to family sources.

Mysore City Pawn Brokers Association has condoled the death of Shankar, who was a member of the Association.
