City MMA & Grappling athletes shine

Mysore/Mysuru: Fourteen MMA athletes of the Academy of Martial Science (AMS) and five athletes of SMITE Academy, under the aegis of Mysore Combat Sports Association (MCSA), have won 10 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in the MMA India Open Championship – 2025 held in Jaipur recently.

Team Karnataka, with a total medal tally of 25, emerged as one of the most successful teams at the event.

Three grapplers of AMS participated in the first edition of TCF Open Jiujitsu Championship in Bengaluru and won a gold and a bronze medal.

1. Aanya: Female Youth E, 45 kg catch weight div – Gold Medal; 2. Tanvi: Female Youth E, 45 kg catch weight div – Silver Medal; 3.  Arhan Pasha: Youth E, 27 kg div – Gold Medal; 4. Eeshan: Youth D, 45 kg catch weight div – Gold Medal; 5. Kushal Gowda: Youth D, 45 kg catch weight div – Silver Medal.

 6. Ayan Ali: Youth C, 44 kg div – Gold Medal; 7. Owais Ahmed: Youth C, 44 kg div – Silver Medal; 8. Maseeha Khan: Female Youth C, 70 kg div – Gold Medal; 9. R. Namrata: Female Youth B, 61.2 kg div – Gold Medal; 10. Afza: Female Youth B, 52.2 kg div – Gold Medal.

 11. Mohammed Areez: Youth B, 52.2 kg div – Silver Medal; 12. J. Ashwin: Youth A, 74.2 kg div – Gold Medal; 13. Thanmay:  Youth A, 61.2 kg div – Quarter Finalist; 14. Preetham: Junior Straw weight – Bronze Medal; 15. Shreeshan: Junior super middle weight – Gold Medal; 16. Robert: Senior Straw weight – Quarter finalist; 17. Jhenkar Saheb: Senior Feather weight (semi contact)  – Gold Medal; 18. Shreyas – Senior Straw weight (semi contact) – Bronze Medal  and 19. R.P. Akshay: Junior bantam weight (semi contact) – Bronze Medal.

1. Akshatha Shanbhogue: 54 kgs – Gold Medal; 2. Manohar: 80 kgs – Bronze Medal and 3. Suprith: 70 kgs – Quarter Finalist.
