City Pourakarmikas to study Singapore civic systems

Mysore/Mysuru: As many as nine Pourakarmikas of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) have been selected for a study tour of Singapore by Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Development Corporation. They will leave for Singapore today (Nov. 20 – 24) to study waste management and clearing there which is one of the cleanest places in the world.

Pourakarmikas Ravi, R. Vijay, Armugam, Parvathi, Yashwanth Raj, Mahadevi, R. Murugesh, Anandappa and Shankarappa have been selected for the tour.  

The civic workers would study the civic cleanliness and manhole cleaning system adopted there. They would be provided orientation on collection and transportation methods, segregation of waste, recycling and handling sanitation. The objective is to help ensure that Pourakarmikas put into practice what they learn abroad.
