City’s powerlifters Alifiya Vagh and Farida Taher won two silver and bronze at the State-level Bench Press competition held in Mangaluru on Nov. 9 under 72-kg weight class.

Alifiya Vagh won two silver medals in two categories — Seniors and Master’s 1, while Farida won bronze in the senior category. The senior category is for age group between 25 to 39 while Master’s 1 is for 40 to 49.

Alifiya benched 55 kgs while Farida benched 50 kgs. The winning lift was 62.5 kgs.

Both are coached by Commonwealth Gold Medallist Sujay Janardhan and train at Vo2max Fitness Centre under trainer Chandan and physiotherapist Dr. Pinakin Ayare.
