City Private Hospital services crippled

Mysuru: The out-patient and casualty services were all crippled in the city as the private hospitals and nursing homes refused new admissions and were seen sending away the patients to government hospitals, here this morning as private doctors are on an agitation at Belagavi.

As a result, there was more than usual rush seen at the Government Hospitals including K.R. Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital, Government Ayurveda Hospital, PKTB, Government Maternity Hospitals in Nazarbad, JLB Road, Community Health Centres, Dispensaries, ESI, Primary Health Centres, Taluk Government Hospitals to name a few.

Patients gathered in large numbers at the K.R. Hospital in city this morning.

The out-patient departments at K.R. Hospital was choc-o-block with patients standing in long lines awaiting their turns for registration and check up by the doctors. The departments that saw huge turnout of patients included Orthopaedics, Surgery, Medicine, Neuro, ENT and Skin.

Even in Cheluvamba Hospital, that is a maternity hospital, there was shortage of beds and patients were seen being turned away.

All the private clinics were closed and the in-patients in private hospitals like Brindavan Hospital in Jayalakshmipuram, Aishwarya Hospital in Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, Sigma and Kamakshi Hospitals in Saraswathipuram, Narayana Hrudayalaya, were being treated by junior doctors as all the specialists were away in Belagavi participating in the strike.
