City PU lecturers trained on Rangering and Rovering

July 17, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Assistant Director of PU Education Department, Bengaluru, Gubbigudu Ramesh has said that “Government has implemented Nali-Kali programme to inculcate moral education in the minds of the students who though intelligent were indulging in anti-social activities.”

Ramesh spoke after inau-gurating the one-day training camp for the lecturers of Government, aided and unaided PU Colleges on Rangering and Rovering Divisions, organised by Bharat Scouts and Guides (Karnataka), Mysuru District, in association with Department of School Education (PU), at Sahukar Channaiah auditorium of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) in the city.

In the earlier education system, the focus was on organising activities to impart knowledge to the  children with the subjects, to encourage them to contribute to the society. Instead of producing better and responsible citizens, the number of children deviating in their life was more. The educated youths who were adept at Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Social Science themselves were taking to anti-social activities. Taking cognisance of this, ‘Nali-Kali’ programme was introduced to educate children with quality education than knowledge-based education. With this programme, apart from personality develop-ment, the children are moulded as good citizens, added  Ramesh.

Deputy Director of PU Edu-cation, Mysuru District, M.P. Nagamma, who was the chief guest said, “The Scouts and Guides is helpful in inculcating discipline among students. The lecturers should strive to mould students as good citizens.”

District Chief Commissioner of Scouts and Guides P. Vishwanath spoke about the principles of Founder of Bharat Scouts and Guides Baden Powell and the Divisions created according to the age group of the students from 15 years to 20 years and the principles of Rovers and Rangers.
