City remembers Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Mysuru: The District Administration had organised an event to mark the 62nd Mahaparinirvan Diwas (death anniversary) of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar here this morning.

MLA M.K. Somashekar, Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Marithibbe Gowda, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, ZP President Nayeema Sultana, ZAK Chairperson Mallige Veeresh, MyLac Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, KEA Chairman Siddaraju, former Mayors Purushotham and B.L. Bhyrappa, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, ADC T. Yogesh, AC Shivegowda,  Social Welfare Department Joint Director Prabha were present.

Speaking on the occasion, T. Narasipur Nalanda Buddha Vihara Head Bodhi Rathna Bantheji said the preaching of Buddha was not restricted to one particular community but was to be followed by everyone. A seminar and discussion on ‘ Ambedkar’s life and achievement’ had been organised by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre. A documentary titled ‘Bharatha Bhagyavidhata’ was screened.
