City roads crying for attention

Sir,

It is not just the spike in crimes that requires the attention of City Police, City Corporation and the district authorities concerned, but also on the pathetic condition of roads adjoining the Ring Road.

The officials and employees of many of the Departments that are supposed to look into these aspects, think and behave as if lethargy and ‘something’ benefits are special privileges granted to them once they join Government service. I am not sure if they have ever commuted on these roads on their personal vehicles any time other than commuting in their AC cars.

A news item in Star of Mysore sometime back said that the lights on the Ring Road are not operational because the rodents have damaged the wires. This is utter negligence on the part of the planners of these projects. It reflects how meritorious they are in their academics that they have not applied neither their minds nor education while planning.

I would urge the authorities concerned to commute from Sathagalli Bus Depot Junction to the Forum Mall and from Narayana Hospital to Rajivnagar Junction to get first-hand experience of the road condition.

The main road in Rajendranagar and beyond (opposite to CESC Office) which is a major link road in the area used by residents up to Old Kesare is crying for immediate attention.

The stretch of Irwin Road between the Police Station and Chitra’s Hospital too is in tatters.

The trench dug between Central Post Office and SBI remains unasphalted till date. It is high time that the MCC and other Departments do some work and make these roads travel worthy for the tax-paying citizens.
