City sculptor Yogiraj conferred ‘Jakanachari Award’

Mysuru City Sculptor B.S. Yogiraj being conferred with Jakanachari Award by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai during the Annual Awards (2019-20) ceremony organised by the Kannada and Culture Department, Government of Karnataka, at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru on Aug. 18. The Award carries a purse of Rs. 5 lakh and a citation. The award was instituted in 1995 in the name of revered sculptor ‘Amarashilpi Jakanachari’ to encourage the traditional occupation that has been inherited by generation after generations.
