Mysuru: Students of NPS International, Mysuru — Janak Sunil, Shashank Raj, Chandni Kushalappa, D. Siri, Deepak Narayan and V. Nageshwar — attend the eighth session of the ‘Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN)’ at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre recently. The theme of HMUN India was ‘Act to Impact’ and the conference aimed at bringing out specific action points to create resolutions that would make a difference to the world. The Model United Nations is a platform, a simulation of the UN Conferences that provides an opportunity to students to play the role of various delegates of committees across different countries.
The six delegates participated in various committees discussing issues like migration, cyber war, LGBTQ+ rights and counter terrorism. The delegates took active part in resolution making in 21 hours formal session across four days. This was followed by a leadership forum each evening to further enlighten the delegates on real world problems.
Over the four days the delegates had ample learning. They had a chance to interact with students across the globe. Interacting with Harvard students left the delegates promising a visit again to Harvard Model United Nations 2019.
