City Top Cop’s safety guidelines to schools: Some suggestions

June 14, 2019

Sir,

This refers to our City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna issuing a very comprehensive safety guidelines  to all schools which is timely and commendable (SOM dated May 11). I went through it and wish to suggest one more addition to the list.

I do not know whether it is mandatory that all school buses must have CCTVs and hence it has been omitted. But even so I feel it should be listed so that it is included, if not mandatory, as an abundant precaution.

In addition, the CCTVs should be regularly monitored to see that they are in working condition as several instances of its failure has been reported in the media. Besides, the possibility of it being tampered with ulterior motives cannot be ruled out. Therefore, this aspect needs to be  emphasised.
