City’s Thanya wins yet another gold medal in swimming

City swimmer S. Thanya won the gold medal in the 400 mts (Individual Medley) with a timing of 5:12.96 seconds at the BIMSTEC Aquatic Championships 2024 held at S.P. Mukherjee Sports Stadium in New Delhi recently.

She has also won gold medals in 200 mts Breaststroke and 200 mts Individual Medley with a timing of 2:42.94 sec and 2:28.16 seconds respectively.

At 14, Thanya is said to be the first swimmer from Mysuru to have won three gold medals in an international event.

S. Thanya, a Grade 9 student at Sri Sharada Public School, is the daughter of S.P. Shadakshari and Shwetha, residents of J.P. Nagar, Mysuru.
