‘Civil service aspirants should develop their own identity while in service’

Mysuru:  Stating that every civil service aspirants should develop their own-identity after joining service, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. M.R. Ravi has deplored the tendency of some to make name, fame and money without any hard work.

He was interacting with aspirants of civil services, KAS and other competitive exams, as a guest at Jnanabuthi Institute located in the premises of Lakshmipuram Government High School and PU College on JLB road in city this morning.

Pointing out that he had served in 19 districts of the State in various capacities as a bureaucrat, Dr. Ravi regretted the tendency of some in the bureaucracy of sticking on to their home district or neighbouring districts.

Classifying the officialdom into two categories — one as pro-people and another as popular among people,  Dr. Ravi said that those officials who are always willing to serve the people, will automatically become popular.

Maintaining that those who chase popularity straight-away after entering service cannot become good officers, he said that civil service aspirants should not have a mindset of making only money, as it is not good for the society.

Highlighting the importance of service-mindedness, he cautioned the aspirants against developing arrogance after entering service.

Giving a pep-talk to the aspirants, Dr. Ravi urged them to come of out inferiority complex, shyness and the like in order to succeed in civil service and competitive exams.

Calling upon the students to take civil service exam with an ambition and a clear cut purpose, he said that concentration, dedication and determination, coupled with hard work, was vital for success in exams.

He also cautioned the students against excessive use of cell phones, as it would hinder their own thinking.

Mandya Probationary AC R. Aishwarya, retired Joint Director of Agriculture Dr. H.R. Krishnaiah Gowda, Jnanabuthi’s Jainahalli Satyanarayana Gowda, Prof. Raphel and others were present.
