Civilian Rifle Training Camp held

City Armed Reserve (CAR) DCP Shivaraju, who is also the Secretary of Mysuru City Civilian Rifle Training  Association, said that citizens must register for rifle training in order to protect themselves from anti-social elements and also for self-defence.

He was speaking at the valedictory of Civilian Rifle Training Camp at the City Police Sports Club here yesterday.

Pointing out that the Police Department has been training  citizens in rifle shooting since many years as a tool of self-defence, he called upon the citizens to undergo rifle training in order to protect themselves from anti-social elements and during emergencies. Shivaraju said that the participants are also taught ways of using the rifles.

Pointing out that the camp will be usually held in the month of January or February every year, he said that admission is restricted to 40 persons per batch.

Stating that experts will impart training, he appealed the citizens to make use of this opportunity and get themselves trained in rifle shooting.

Abhiraj, Hidayatullah Shariff and Manjunath S. Gowda, who excelled at the camp were awarded first, second and third prizes respectively and all the camp participants were distributed certificates.

Nadanahalli Ravi and Manjunath S. Gowda shared their experience at the camp. Vanishree Bhat rendered invocation. Spoorthiraj Vivek welcomed. Hitaishi Bhat proposed a vote of thanks. Rifle Association Joint Secretary and CAR ACP H.V. Veeranna, Ammunition in-Charge Inspector Ramu, trainers Sridhar, Madegowda and Hemanthkumar, Co-ordinator Channabasavaiah and others were present during the valedictory.
