CLAT Examination Analysis 2020- Everything You Need To Know!

CLAT stands for the common law admissions test, which is an all India entrance examination that is conducted by national law school/universities for admissions of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.  

In the year 2020, CLAT is scheduled on 28 Sep,2020, by consortium nluss. After conduction, the CLAT exam expert will provide analysis for it soon.

The CLAT exam pattern is different, unlike the previous year, so candidates need to prepare themselves according to it. The Paper will consist of 150 questions that will be categorized into five sections that are English, GK, elementary mathematics, legal aptitude, and logical reasoning. For every incorrect attempt, a negative marking of one-fourth of a mark is likely to happen, so candidates have to be precise with their answering.  

The same score of CLAT examination is acceptable by different law schools as well, including UPES-Dehradun, institute of Law, Nirma University-Ahmedabad, NMIMS-Mumbai and several others. Exam pattern

With the CLAT exam, you can test one’s aptitude and reasoning abilities, and it covers five categories, mainly including quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, logical reasoning, legal aptitude, and general knowledge. Each question in the exam carries one mark, and negative marking is practiced for every negative answering, as mentioned earlier. The English language covers 20% of the paper with almost 28-32 questions, logical reasoning 28-32 that is 20% of paper, legal aptitude 35-39 questions consisting 25%, GK has 25% of the exam with 35-39 questions, quantitative aptitude is least with 10%, and 13-17 questions. Candidates can consider stressing the portions they are good at to prevent negative marking and try not to answer the question they are not sure of.

CLAT Syllabus

  • English: the section of English includes passages where candidates need to answer passage questions, central theme, the meaning of words, etc. The purpose of this to check the proficiency of the student in the English language.
  • Quantitative aptitude: this category includes quantitative technique covers short sets of facts or propositions, graphs, pictorial or diagrammatic representations of numerical info. 
  • Legal reasoning: candidates need to answer questions related study of law, research aptitude, and problem-solving ability.  
  • Logical reasoning: this section tests the ability of identifying patterns, rectify illogical arguments, and logical links by an individual based on their understanding. 
  • GK: candidates have to answer passages of approx 450 words that would cover the static portion. This section includes mainly current affairs and legal information, so reading the daily newspaper, bill judgments, and legal info would be helpful in answering this section brilliantly.
