Clear clogged inlets to side drains

June 28, 2019

Sir,

This is the fate of most inlets that diverts rain water to side drains on city roads. The street swept waste is conveniently pushed into these channels laid under footpaths. Result: Inlet is clogged, rain water runs down the road and inundates a low lying area and creates tragedies.

The Umar Khayyam Road, Tilaknagar, Mandi Mohalla, was selected to be converted as a model road about six years ago and footpaths were laid,  ornamental street lights pillars were erected since the road connected with the Jumboo Savari route on New Sayyaji Rao Road.

Will the authorities concerned attend to this perennial problem, clear the clogged inlets and most importantly cart the waste immediately lest it gets back and clogs again? It is also necessary to educate the MCC Pourakarmikas to perform their duties and responsibilities with honesty and sincerity.
