Clear encroachments in residential areas

October 27, 2017

Sir,

Many residents in various extensions of this heritage city brazenly encroach public space, thus inconveniencing the citizens. It is normal that many convert the open space in front of their homes as garden, reducing the space for road-users.

In addition, vehicles are parked haphazardly in front of shops and other establishments. Vinaya Marga of Siddarthanagar has become notorious (?) for rash and reckless riding by two-wheelers.  They follow the parking instructions of Traffic Police more in breach. Most of the car parking space is invariably occupied by two-wheelers, denying four- wheelers space to park their vehicles. Visit of Tiger Squad to seize vehicles parked illegally is of no use as it is not regular. Unless frequency of Tiger Squad is increased, the chaos will continue.

Visitors to the Vinayaka Temple on this road hardly care to park their vehicles in an orderly manner. Added to the existing problems, someone is building a fountain like structure opposite a departmental store which takes away the available parking space in front of the Temple. It appears, the authorities concerned are not bothered about this problem.

It is requested that the authorities concerned keep a vigil to ensure free movement of traffic, vehicles are parked in designated areas and immediately clear all illegal encroachments.
