Close shave for youth as SUV falls off bridge

June 19, 2021

Ponnampet: A youth had a miraculous escape after his four-wheeler fell from a bridge in South Kodagu last evening. Fortunately, he was alone and managed to wriggle out of his vehicle without suffering any injuries.

The incident occurred last evening at Hudikeri on a bridge when Nellira Aiyappa was proceeding towards Hudikeri town from Birunani on his Thar SUV.

It was raining heavily and a car and a bike was coming from the opposite side in great speed. While the car passed his SUV, he was manoeuvring his vehicle to avoid the bike when his SUV fell from the bridge.

It was a narrow road and was slippery due to rains and water in the river too was flowing in full force. The vehicle had turned turtle due to the impact.

Aiyappa somehow managed to get out of the vehicle and passers-by summoned an earth mover and ropes and the SUV was pulled out of the river with much efforts.

The tarpaulin cover of the SUV and also the support metal rods were mangled. Aiyappa was dropped home by some friends later.
