Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will be inaugurating the newly constructed swimming pools at Chamundi Vihar Stadium on June 29 said Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep.
He was speaking to mediapersons after inspecting the swimming pools this morning. DC Randeep said that the CM would also lay foundation stones for the tennis academy, gymnastic hall and water sports training centre on the same day.
While the tennis academy and gymnastic hall would be constructed at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium, the water sports academy will be established at Varuna Lake at a cost of Rs. 5 crore, the DC said and added that the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports had also proposed to extend the building of the girls hostel in the stadium premises.
The swimming pools were constructed in two phases at a cost of Rs. 4.97 crore. The foundation stone for the facility was laid by the then Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter in 2013.
It has three pools – racing pool, practice pool and children’s pool. The racing pool measures 50mts x 25 mts wide and 1.10 mts x 1.80 mts deep, while the practice pool is 25 mts x 16 mts wide and 0.90 x 1.10 mts deep and the children’s pool is 5 mts x 11 mts wide and 0.45 mts and 0.70 mts deep. There is also an administrative block with a ticket counter, office room, plant room, separate wash rooms for men and women. It also has two open showers, separate two wheeler and four wheeler parking facilities. The authorities have also installed rain water harvesting system and drainage system.
Mini theatre inauguration
Chief Minister Siddharamaiah during his visit to Mysuru will also inaugurate the mini theatre at the Kalamandira premises. Nirmithi Kendra Project Engineer H.P. Satish, Project Director M.T. Manjunath, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Assistant Director Suresh and others were present.
