CM inaugurates Chitrakala Expo at Suchitra Art Gallery

Mysuru: The tattered chappals made out of mud is a metaphor for the aspiration of a poor man belied of ever wearing it, was the clear message that greeted CM Siddharamaiah and other dignitaries at Suchitra Art Gallery.

There were many such artefacts, paintings and other art works that stirred the minds of the people at the Chitrakala Exhibition, organised jointly by Dasara Fine Arts and Handicrafts Sub-Committee and Karnataka Shilpakala Academy, as part of Dasara celebrations.

The CM inaugurated the expo here yesterday and lauded the efforts of the students of the Academy for their creations. The expo will be open till Sept. 27 from 10 am to 6 pm.

Some of the eye-catching exhibits include ducks crafted out of different colour papers, Ganapathy idol carved out of wood, Gommateshwara, pictures of  Gods and the works on wood depicting nature.

The painting of a farmer carrying yoke, different postures of elephants, birds pecking and eating from its beaks and in playful moods, as also the moods of man and a few sculptures and portraits are all seen.

Later, at a function in Maneyangala, Shilpakala Academy Registrar Indramma, Committee Secretary Gavisiddaiah, Sub-Committee President Srikantamurthy, Vice-Presidents Pushpavalli and Subramanyeraje Urs, Secretary Suresh, senior photographer S.M. Jambukeshwar and others were present.
