CM plans to outwit opposition leaders by reviving old cases

May 23, 2017

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, in a bid to outwit main Opposition leaders B.S. Yeddyurappa and H.D. Kumaraswamy ahead of 2018 Assembly polls, has planned to revive old cases registered against the two leaders long ago.

Siddharamaiah, who is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the Congress retains power in the 2018 polls, has heady begun to tarnish the image of Opposition leaders, by reviving Jantakal mining cases, in which former CM and State JD(S) President H.D. Kumaraswamy.

The CM seems to have targeted State BJP Chief B.S. Yeddyurappa too, by secretly ordering Bengaluru CCB to investigate Rs. 1.98 crore cash found in an Advocate’s car at Vidhana Soudha last year.

Congress leader V.S. Ugrappa, who is close to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, had publicly claimed that the cash found in the Advocate’s car belonged to B.S. Yeddyurappa.

Soon as Ugrappa issued a press statement in this regard, the Advocate in question Vinod Kumar moved the High Court and  succeeded in getting a stay into the probe.

Amidst these development, the Government transferred Bengaluru Central DCP Sandeep Patil and handed over the probe to CCB. DCP Sandeep Patil is said to be a close relative of an influential BJP Pleader.

Even as the High Court has stalled the probe, Siddharamaiah, who is out to strike at his rivals, has ordered a secret investigation by the CCB. The CM is also said to have ordered revival of cases lodged by the Lokayukta and CID against Yeddyurappa, it is learnt.
