CM to inaugurate two-day Basava Jayanti celebrations in city tomorrow

Mysuru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the two-day Basava Jayanti celebrations organised under the joint aegis of Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha,Veerashaiva Lingayat Associations and Basava Balagagala Okkoota at Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill at 11 am tomorrow (Aug.4).

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Okkoota President K.Doora Shivakumar said the two-day event features a grand procession, Vachana Sangeetha, Vachana Gayana, seminars, special lectures, cultural programmes and felicitation to Veerashaiva-Lingayat Ministers and Legislators.

Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Kanakapura’s Degula Mutt Seer Dr. Sri Mummadi Nirvana Swamiji will grace the occasion.

Deputy CM Dr.G.Parameshwara will preside while Ministers G.T. Devegowda, S.R. Mahesh, C. Puttaranga Shetty and N.Mahesh will release books on the occasion.

Continuing, Shivakumar said that State BJP President and former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the felicitation programme at 11 am on Aug.5, in which Veerashaiva-Lingayat Ministers M.C. Managuli, Shivananda S. Patil, Venkat Rao Nadagouda and Rajashekar Patil will be felicitated in the presence of Siddaganga Mutt’s Siddalinga Swamiji and Hosamutt Seer Sri Chidananda Swamiji.

Vidwan Andagara Naveen and troupe will present a Vachana Sangeetha at 10 am on Aug.4 while Dr.Shwetha Madappadi will present Vachana Gayana at 9.30 am on Aug.5, he added.
