Colleges to re-open after vaccination

July 14, 2021

Hubballi: Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan on Monday said Colleges will reopen after vaccination of students, teachers and staff is completed across the State.

Speaking to newsmen here he said the Government has not taken a decision on the reopening of Colleges. However, the Department is making preparations for reopening, keeping in mind the fact that they may open once vaccination is complete, he said.

“The process of reopening Colleges and Universities is fraught with challenges. However, how long can we go on like this? Life should be back on track as soon as possible. We have to take enough safety measures and aim at reopening Colleges. In this regard, universal vaccination of all College students is the only way ahead,” he said.

“On the one hand, we are vaccinating people and on the other hand, we are equipping hospitals to treat larger number of patients. There are over 6,000 beds for COVID-19 patients in Government Hospitals. We are appointing over 2,000 doctors, paramedical staff and Group D staff. All this will help us better manage the pandemic,” he added.

He denied allegations that the Government had neglected its duty of vaccinating citizens.

‘Second wave not over yet’

Bengaluru: Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar on Tuesday appealed to the people to continue to be cautious warning that the second wave of COVID-19 was not completely over yet.

Speaking to media persons here he said that even those who have taken two doses of vaccine should continue to take all precautionary measures. After the unlock, huge crowds are seen in markets and religious places and, therefore, it is important that people should strictly follow COVID-19 guidelines or else they risk the possibility of inviting third wave, he said.
