Colourful procession marks Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti

Mysuru: Marking Chhatrapati  Shivaji Jayanti, District Administration, Department of Kannada and Culture and Jayanti Samithi together had organised a colourful procession in city this morning.

The procession was launched by Mayor Bhagyavathi in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple by offering flowers to a life-size portrait of Shivaji placed on a decorated Sarot. Over 200 people took part in the procession including several women and children.

Leading the procession was an autorickshaw carrying a bust of Shivaji followed by an array of folk troupes with ‘Mangala Vadya’ in attendance.

The procession passed through K.R. Circle, Devaraja Urs Road, JLB road, Metropole Circle before culminating at Kalamandira where a stage programme was held.

Former MLA Maruthi Rao Pawar, Corporator Sunil, Samithi President Nagendra Avathade, Kshatriya Maratha Parishat District President S. Keshavanath Jadav and others were present.
