June 17, 2019

Mysuru: As part of Acharyathrayara Jayanti, a Shobha Yatre, carrying portraits of the three revered Acharyas — Shankaracharya, Madhwacharya and Ramanujacharya — was taken out in city yesterday under the aegis of Mysuru city and District Brahmana Sangha and Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha.

The Shobha Yatre commenced from Chamundipuram Circle accompanied by an array of folk troupes and passing through Nanjumalige Circle reached Neramballi Savitramma Subba Rao Kalyan Mantap in Lakshmipuram where a stage programme was held.

Inaugurating the programme, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama Junior Pontiff Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji said that though the philosophies of the three Acharyas were different they were together able to correct the errors of the society and added that their common school of thought on cleansing the society should be respected. He invited Brahmin youth, interested to learn puja rituals and Veda studies, to the Ashrama which could also be taken up as a profession.

Kannada and Culture Asst. Director H. Channappa, speaking on the occasion, said that the Government is observing Shankaracharya Jayanti and added that the Jayanti of the other two Acharyas could also be observed if the Government confirms.

MLA S.A. Ramdas, former MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar, Brahmana Sangha District President D.T. Prakash, District Co-op. Union President H.V. Rajiv and Corporator M.V. Ramprasad were present.
