Mysore/Mysuru: Columbia Asia Hospitals – Mysore (A unit of Manipal Hospitals), conducted an Inter-School Health Quiz in association with Cardiology Society of India – Mysore Chapter to enrich student’s knowledge.
A total of 37 teams and 74 students from 11 schools participated in this digital quiz.
“It is important to instill healthy habits in children from the time they are young. The health quiz enabled the children to get basic knowledge about how the human body works, the current affairs and the global emerging patterns of the world; the changing lifestyle and the importance of having knowledge about it, in a fun and learning environment,” said Dr. Sasirekha, Consultant – Interventional Cardiology, Columbia Asia Hospitals – Mysore.
“Many students would be interested in pursuing a future in healthcare. This quiz helped students to know more about much-needed topics regarding healthcare. It also created awareness regarding World Heart Day and its purpose. It is important to create awareness among kids regarding heart disease and lifestyle related issues,” said Dr. Veena and Dr. Veenu, Senior Cardiologists of Mysore and office-bearers of Cardiology Society of India – Mysore.
St. Joseph’s Central School students emerged winners of the quiz while Sadvidya School as runners-up. The winners and runners-up are entitled to a trophy and cash prize. All the participants were entitled to certificates, added Dr. Sasirekha.
“The Columbia Asia School Quiz is an opportunity for students to get robust exposure in the field of healthcare as well as quizzing with a theme on World Heart Day. This being season-3, we saw tremendous enthusiasm amongst the participants as well as their parents. It was an enriching experience even for us to interact with these brilliant young minds,” said Dr. Gautam Das, General Manager Columbia Asia Hospitals – Mysore.
