Mysuru: It is the monsoon season and the State is experiencing heavy rainfall. As a result, water is cascading from all the natural waterfalls including the Jog Falls in Shivamogga district. People are making a beeline to watch this nature’s bounty all over the State.
However, in the city itself, if one wants to experience the beauty of the waterfalls all one has to do is drive to Kalamandira this evening and they can see the beautiful artificially created waterfalls in front of the Kalamandira building.
The work of creating artificial waterfall and laying the lawn was taken up at a cost of Rs.20 lakh under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant from Bharatiya Note Mudran Limited.
The work taken up by Bengaluru’s Horticulture Department is complete and they have been very successful in creating the artificial waterfalls close to the natural ones.
The water cascades from a height and amidst strategically placed rocks and collects in the attractively designed pond. The continuous flow of water has a very soothing affect on the eyes.
Kalamandira, which is throbbing with life with many cultural activities around the year, was once a deserted place with hardly any greenery. Now, stage by stage the beautification is taking place and the new attraction is the artificial waterfall.
Inauguration
The newly created artificial waterfall will be inaugurated this evening at 5.30. The waterfalls in full flow can be seen for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening at a fixed time, said Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director H. Chennappa.
