Commonwealth Chess Championships: Thejkumar held to a draw by Sambit Panda

New Delhi: Grand Master M.S.Thejkumar, representing India and taking part in the Commonwealth Chess Open Championship-2018 at Delhi, was held to a draw in the third round by Orissa’s Sambit Panda (Rating 2187) yesterday.

After three rounds, GM Thejkumar has secured 2 points and is placed 34th in the rankings. In the second round, he was held to a draw by India’s AGM Jubin Jimmy (Rating 2113). In the first round Thejkumar had a good win over WIM Hamid Rani of Bangladesh.

In the U-10 section, Mysuru’s Yashika Joshi has secured 1.5 points from 2 rounds and is placed 14th in rankings, while D. Janavi (1 point), A.N. Shefali (1 point), Sharadhi Shastry (5) are the other players who are faring well. In girls U-12 section, Mysuru’s Prasiddhi Bhat has secured 1 points from 2 rounds and is placed 27th in the rankings.
