Bengaluru: In what seems to be a counter for the ruling BJP’s ‘Janotsava’ rallies, the opposition Congress has planned to take out ‘Janajagruti’ campaigns across the State in order to expose the BJP Government’s corruption, maladministration and administrative failures.
Announcing this at a press meet here on Monday, KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar termed the BJP dispensation in the State as a most corrupt one.
Accusing the BJP of spreading lies and falsehood, Shivakumar said that the Janajagruti campaign is aimed at educating and sensitising the people on corruption and misdeeds of the BJP Government. During the campaign, the Congress will also highlight the welfare programmes launched by the previous Congress Government headed by Siddharamaiah, he said.
Continuing, Shivakumar said that the party has also prepared a questionnaire to the ruling BJP, Shivakumar alleged that the BJP had miserably failed in keeping its promises made to the people. Asserting that the Congress had met 158 out of the 165 assurances that it had given during the 2013 Assembly polls, he wondered what is there for the BJP to boast of. Charging the BJP of doing little for the betterment of lives of the people, he lashed out at the BJP Government saying that it was mired in corruption and had failed on all fronts.
Opposition leader and former CM Siddharamaiah, KPCC Campaign Committee President M.B. Patil and State Congress in-Charge Randeep Surjewala, who too addressed the press meet, came down heavily on the BJP Governments at the Centre and the State. They alleged that the BJP had taken corruption levels to a new high. They appealed the people to throw out BJP in next year’s Assembly polls and bring the Congress back to power.
