Mysuru: Terming Congressmen as house burglars and BJP men as architects of division and hatred, CPI(M) leader Dr. Siddanagouda Patil has said that it had become inevitable for the people of the State to elect either of the two.
Speaking after inaugurating a two-day Mysuru District CPI(M) meet at Town Hall premises here yesterday, Dr. Patil said that the Congress was thrown out of power because of the scams that surfaced during its rule and the BJP which came to power after unseating the Congress is promoting divisive forces, besides favouring industrialists and capitalists, while forgetting the common man.
Alleging that the BJP is raking up emotional issues to hide its divisiveness, he lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to bring black-money stashed abroad, as promised by him in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Accusing Modi of favouring only corporates by waiving off huge amount of loans, the CPI(M) leader said, the PM had failed to address farmer distress and resolve labour issues.
Attributing the poor state of Banks to waiving off loans to big corporates, he said that the BJP Government at the Centre was promoting religious and caste fissures in the society, in order to conceal its failures on economic front. Maintaining that agrarian distress and labour discontentment was on the rise in the country, Dr. Patil underlined the need for the working class to transform into a strong political force.
The event also marked the 7th death anniversary of communist leader K. Venkataramaiah.
